eTwinning Azerbaijan Highlights Key Educational Initiatives in December 2024

December 2024 was marked by significant achievements and nationwide activities within the framework of the eTwinning Azerbaijan project, aimed at promoting innovation, collaboration, and 21st-century skills in education.

eTwinning Promo Tours and Teacher Trainings

On December 7–8, eTwinning Ambassador İlahə Quliyeva conducted a training session at Secondary School No. 238 in Baku’s Nizami district. Sixteen educators from various schools and lyceums were introduced to the European School Education Platform (ESEP) and project-based learning methodologies, resulting in the launch of new pilot projects.

Simultaneously, in Sumgayit, eTwinning Ambassador Aidə Ələkbərova delivered training for 15 teachers, focusing on platform registration, project management, and effective use of ESEP. In total, 45 teachers participated in these capacity-building sessions.

New eTwinning Ambassador and Mentors Announced

eTwinning Azerbaijan announced the results of its Ambassador and Mentor Selection Competition for the current academic year. From nearly 70 applicants, one ambassador and seven mentors were selected following a rigorous evaluation of platform activity and interviews.

  • Aybəniz Əhədova – Project Mentor (Bilasuvar, Beydili Village School)
  • Şəbnəm Əliyeva – Project Mentor (Ganja, School No. 24)
  • Fidan Əliyeva – Project Mentor (Baku, School-Lyceum No. 220)
  • Samirə Əmrahova – Project Mentor (Jalilabad, Göytəpə School No. 1)
  • Nigar Şükürova – Project Mentor (Barda, School No. 4)
  • Ləman Əlizadə – Project Mentor (Baku, School No. 156)
  • Çimnaz Abdullayeva – Project Mentor (Aghdam, Mahrızlı Village School)

The newly selected team will officially begin their roles in 2025.

Regional eTwinning Conference in Shabran

A three-day regional conference was held in Shabran on December 23–25, bringing together educators to enhance 21st-century skills. Sessions focused on successful project models, project planning on the eTwinning platform, and curriculum integration. As a result, 13 collaborative project models were developed, reinforcing regional cooperation and professional exchange.

Climate Change Competitions: Students and Teachers Recognized

Within the theme of “Green Skills for a Green Future”, a student competition on climate change attracted 134 participants aged 11–17, with 41 finalists.

  • Our Changing PlanetRamiz Oruczadə (Baku, School No. 239)
  • Young InnovatorsYusif Əliyev (Absheron, Saray School No. 1)

Additionally, Aytən Kazımlı, a teacher from Ismayilli School No. 1, was awarded “Most Creative Project of the Year” for her project on Citizenship Education.

Best Practices and Success Stories

  • Aysel Məmmədova, a primary school teacher, implemented the “Artistic Learning” project, promoting creativity, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary skills.
  • Pərvanə Babayeva, a biology teacher from Ismayilli School No. 6, authored 77 successful eTwinning projects and received both National and European Quality Labels.

eTwinning School Award

Neftçala Secondary School No. 4 was officially awarded the eTwinning School title, recognizing its strong commitment to innovation, collaboration, and whole-school engagement in international educational projects.
